Adult Acne, Eczema & Psoriasis Symptoms and treatment

Tired of pimples, acne, blackheads and other skin problems? Well, they can be pretty tough to handle and if you have multiple skin disorders, it is important that you consult a dermatologist. Adult acne is quiet common and it normally starts during adolescence.

In many cases, acne continues even into adulthood. This is referred as adult acne. Acne is a plug of fat, skin debris and keratin which has formed around a hair duct. When the hair duct ruptures it leads to redness, and gets infected leading to pustules. Acne is caused by excess oil production, hormones, and infection. Gentle face washing at least twice a day is recommended. Do not squeeze out a pimple as this will lead to scars and the infection spreads to the rest of the face. Avoid oily food stuff, get adequate sleep, exercise regularly and drink plenty of water. Consult a dermatologist who will prescribe some medicines and explain the side effects of these.

Eczema is an inflammation of the epidermis with redness, itching, oozing and crusting, followed by scaling and pigmentation. The cause is not definitely known but heredity is thought to be responsible. In addition, irritants like detergents, soaps, shampoos can also be the cause. Dandruff, sweating, stress and hormones trigger eczema in some cases. Usually people have exacerbations and remissions of symptoms.

Psoriasis is a chronic skin thought to be due to an overactive immune system. Psoriasis symptoms include flaking and inflammation with thick, white, silvery, or red patches on the skin. It can occur in both sexes and in all age groups. In most cases, patients are diagnosed with it in their early adult years. When the skin becomes inflamed or irritated, immediate medical attention is required.
