Dr. Ashok Elangovan is currently a Consultant in the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield, Bangalore. After completing his internship from the prestigious Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Pondicherry, India, he pursued his academic interest in Anesthesia by working first as a Junior Resident and later as a Senior Resident in the department of Anesthesia and Intensive care of another well-known medical institute of India, namely, PGIMER, Chandigarh.  It was at PGIMER, Chandigarh, that Dr. Ashok completed his postgraduate degree (MD) in Anesthesia in 2006. After obtaining his Fellowship of the National Board (FNB) in Critical Care Medicine, in 2009, he worked as a Specialist in the department of Critical Care Medicine, Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, for a short period of 3 months before he was posted as a Consultant in ICU, Apollo Specialty Hospital, Madurai, India, where he worked for a period of 2 years.  At this point in time, Dr. Ashok relocated to Australia to enrich his experience in Critical Care Medicine.  Here, he advanced his training in Critical Care Medicine and worked for a year in the ICU at Royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide, Australia.

He returned to India to become a Consultant in the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, India.  He has a number of interesting publications to his credit and has pursued his teaching of the subject of Critical Care, enthusiastically.  He is an accredited teacher in Critical Care Medicine by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.  He has the honour of being a faculty of several conferences in Critical Care.  After working in Manipal Hospital for a period of three years, he has now joined Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield as a Consultant in Critical Care Medicine.
