Dr Rajesh V Helavar is a highly skilled Radiologist who specializes in the field of medical imaging, especially gastro radiology. He executes and interprets medical images medical images such as X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, and MRIs to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. He is also an adept Interventional Radiologist. Interventional radiology treatments have become the primary method of care for a variety of conditions, offering less risk, less pain and less recovery time, compared to open surgery.
He has experience in both vascular and non-vascular procedures. He has performed percutaneous biopsy under ultrasound and CT guidance, drainage of abscesses, biliary drainage, biliary stenting, percutaneous nephrostomy, antegrade ureteric stenting, Radiofrequency ablation of tumors (HCC, renal, bone), microwave ablation of tumors, percutaneous cholecystostomy, wire localization of breast lesions. He is also experienced in performing diagnostic angiography and venography, transarterial chemoembolization of liver tumors (HCC, metastatic liver disease), preoperative embolization of tumors, uterine artery embolization for post-partum bleeding, embolization for fibroids, peripheral vascular angioplasty and stenting and peripheral venous access.
Dr Rajesh has shown keen interest in research having presented and published articles in many conferences and journals. He has been involved in the CHAMPION Study -(Children's Health and Mental Performance Influenced by Optimal Nutrition) and continues to study recent updates in radiology to ensure that his practice is evidence based.
